ALNORVA JAMES

Alnorva James of the 500 block of Southgate Ave. died Feb. 14, 1997.

A retired quality assurance supervisor at the Naval Aviation Depot for 34 years, he was an Onslow County, N.C., native and a member of First Lynnhaven Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. He was a former member of the trustee board and Masonic Lodge Unity No. 93 P.H.A.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie L. James of Virginia Beach; daughter, Melinda Parrish of Norfolk; son, Thaxter Cooper of Tampa, Fla.; five sisters, Clara Morrison, Emmaline Williams and Maggie Milliner, all of Sneads Ferry, N.C., Violet Washington and Sarah Myles, both of Chicago; two brothers, Theadore James of Virginia Beach and Wilburt James Sr. of Norfolk; grandchild, Zachry Cooper of Tampa; daughter-in-law, Denise Cooper of Tampa; son-in-law, James Parrish of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in First Lynnhaven Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Edgar Williams Jr. Burial will be in James Family Cemetery, Sneads Ferry. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk, is in charge.
