James Matthew Baker Sr., 48, of the 1600 block of Selden Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997, peacefully after a brief illness at River Point Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
A self-employed auto mechanic, he was a native of Princess Anne County and the son of Rosina Baker Robinson and the late Raleigh Robinson Sr.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lueshall Peet and Otiser Peet; two sons, Matthew Peet and Michael Peet; five sisters, Dorothy Tillett, Erma Billups, Mary Reed, Betty Petty and Carolyn Jones; stepsister, Mary Gordon; three brothers, Edward Baker, Raleigh Robinson Jr. and Goldwood Robinson; a stepbrother, Joseph Robinson; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James M. Baker Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Greater Works Ministries by the Rev. Gary Wiggins. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Wednesday night.
