George Edwin Dixon, 69, of the 3200 block of Morningside Drive died Feb. 17, 1997, in a local hospital.
A retired quality control engineer for General Electric and retired from the Navy after serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, Mr. Dixon was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church. He was a member of Merrimac Kiwanis Club and a native of Fitzgerald, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Dixon of Chesapeake; two daughters, Cindy Romaniw, and her husband, Michael, of Virginia Beach, Lisa D. Pearson, and her husband, Lee, of Virginia Beach; mother, Carrie Rakestraw Dixon of Fitzgerald; sister, Carrie Louise Fishback, and her husband, Frederick, of Panama City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jessica and Robert Romaniw, Jamie and John Iuliano. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Dixon, and son, Jimmie.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. George F. Mullinax. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
