The MacArthur Memorial peeks out behind a growing pile of recycled
rubble that will be used to make concrete for the MacArthur Center
mall. When buildings were demolished in November to make room for
the mall, enough concrete was left to fill 75 two-story,
four-bedroom houses. Old Dominion Demolition, in charge of the
demolition and recycling, says about 85 percent of the leftover
concrete will be recycled.
