Mildred F.R. Williams, 77, of the 1100 block of Fayette St. died Feb. 16, 1997, in her home.
A retired postal worker with 40 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service in California, Mrs. Williams was a Portsmouth native and the widow of Wilbert Williams. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include sister, Jean M. Hawkins of Portsmouth; brother, Vernon J. Orton of Portsmouth; three nieces; a nephew; and a host of cousins, including Pauline L. Magee and friends, including a devoted friend, Willie L. ``Zip'' Williams Sr. She was predeceased by a sister, Deloris Palmer, and a brother, Major Reid.
A funeral will be conducted at noon today in St. John Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Robert Earls. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. today. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
