JAMES D. PARKER

James Dock Parker, 82, of the 2700 block of Magnolia St., died Feb. 16, 1997, in his home.

A retired rigger for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 37 years service, he was a native of Carrsville, Va., and the widower of Gafelia Rawls Parker. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, a former member of senior choir No. 2 and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include three daughters, Kyle Parker White of Portsmouth, Alice Curry Johnson of Junction City, Kan., and Eloise Mann of Norfolk; sister, Pearl Taylor of Portsmouth; brother, Otto Parker of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Thursday.
