ANTOINETTE SYKES

Antoinette ``Toni'' Sykes, 63, of the 200 block of Beechdale Road, died Feb. 15, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.

Retired from National Linen Service after 30 years, she was a Portsmouth native and faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, St. Julian Creek, Chesapeake, and a member of Mount Hermon Chapter No. 19, Order of Eastern Star. She was also member and secretary of the 1950 class of I.C. Norcom High School, Portsmouth.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Paul Sykes; four daughters, Margo Cox and husband, Edward Cox, Gail Sykes-Murray and husband, William Murray and Deidre Sykes and Linda Lewis, all of Portsmouth; four sons, Albert Paul Sykes Jr. and wife, Nancy Sykes, Angelo Sykes, Kevin Sykes and Marlon ``Shawn'' Sykes, all of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Natashia Sykes, Jonte Fletcher, Cody Sykes and Kadija Murray; two aunts, Lucille Turner of Portsmouth and Elmira Brice of Virginia Beach; uncle, Vanderbilt Sykes of Portsmouth; sister-in-law, Naomi McNeal of Portsmouth; brother-in-law, Charlie Sykes; cousins, other in-laws and friends; and two special friends, Katie Hasty and Ruth Davis. She was predeceased by her parents, Olive Mitchell and Willie Small.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church, St. Julian Creek, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Sidney Foster Jr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
