A woman's body was found Tuesday morning in a Bayside apartment and police are investigating her death as a homicide.
The grisly discovery was made just before 11 a.m. at the Brandywine Apartments in the 5700 block of Trellis Arch near Lake Edward, said police spokesman Lou Thurston.
The victim was identifed as Charlene Belfield, 35. The cause of death was not released.
Thurston said police dispatchers received a ``suspicious circumstances'' call at 10:53 a.m. When police arrived, they met the victim's friend, whose name was not released.
The friend told police that she went to the the apartment because she had not heard from Belfield in several days. When she entered the apartment, she found Belfield lying just inside the door.
Thurston said the victim's red 1989 Ford Ranger pickup truck is missing. The truck has Virginia license FH6386.
The death shocked neighbors. ``This neighborhood right here is very quiet, no trouble,'' said Steve Bradford, 19, who lives across the parking lot. ``This is a good neighborhood.''
