Eldridge Burnell Duffee Sr., 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997.
Mr. Duffee was born April 22, 1914, in Norfolk and was the son of the late Letcher Lee and Jesse B. Reaves Duffee. He attended Bluefield College and The College of William and Mary, Norfolk Division. During World War II, he served in the Navy as a chief warrant officer on various ships, including the USS Thurston, USS Jean Lafitte and USS General Callahan in the Atlantic, Pacific and the Indian Oceans. He later served as a special agent in the Naval Intelligence Service. Mr. Duffee was a 50-year member of Ruth Masonic Lodge (NU)89, AF&AM, Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies and Khedive Temple of the Shrine.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Oldfield Duffee of Norfolk; a granddaughter, Alice Parrish Duffee Coneybeer of San Francisco and a great-grandson, Ross Duffee Coneybeer of San Francisco.
The body will be taken from Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, to Forest Lawn Cemetery for a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday where Masonic rites will be accorded. The family will receive friends at 700 Baldwin Ave., Norfolk, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
