BACKTALK

CALLERS HAD varied responses to last week's question: What is your opinion about the new in-home drug tests? Would you take one if your parents asked you to?

If my parents asked me to take an in-home drug test, I would not. They should trust me enough by now to know that I am responsible and that I do not do drugs. It would be breaking our trust for them to ask me to do something like take a drug test when there is no possible way I would ever do that. It would show they don't trust me when they should. - Martha Armstrong, sophomore, Maury High School

I think parents have the right to ask you to take the in-home drug test, because it could help prevent future drug problems. If my parents asked me, I would take one, definitely. - Darcea Eddings, junior, Salem High School

I think home drug tests are a good idea for those parents who suspect their children may be taking drugs, but I wouldn't think the test would be fair for a child whose parents have no reason to suspect they were taking drugs. - Susanna Aikin, sophomore, First Colonial High School

We would like to hear your comments on this week's Teenology question: Should celebrities, performers, politicians and others in the limelight be held to higher standards than the population as a whole?

To speak out, call INFOLINE at 640-5555 and enter category 7553. Selected comments will appear in next Friday's Daily Break. Be sure to leave your phone number. If you do not, we cannot publish your comments. You must have a Touch Tone phone. Comments will be taken through noon Monday.
