Dorothy Pebworth Billmyer, 82, formerly of the 1100 block of Cambridge Crescent, died Feb. 19, 1997.
Mrs. Billmyer, a native of Portsmouth, was the daughter of the late Henry Skinner Pebworth and Gladys Winchenbach Pebworth. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
A graduate of Maury High School, she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1963 and her Master of Science in Education in 1971 from Old Dominion University. She taught in both private and public high schools in Norfolk and retired as a math teacher at Maury High School.
Earlier she had worked for many years as a designer of residential and commercial buildings. Included in her work was the design of The Circle Restaurant in Portsmouth, one of the first circular structures in Tidewater, and over 200 private residences.
She had been active with and a board member of the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. She was a member of the Morningside Garden Club and Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and served as a Red Cross volunteer during World War II.
Survivors include her husband, retired Old Dominion University Professor Frank William Billmyer, Jr.; four children, U.S. District Court Judge Henry Coke Morgan, Jr. and his wife Marnie of Virginia Beach, Susan Morgan Woodcock and her husband Wayne of Richmond, R. Scott Morgan and his wife Linda of Portsmouth, and David Pebworth Morgan and his wife Jennifer of Midlothian, Va.; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church by The Rev. Richard Reid and The Rev. John Dean. Friends may join the family following the service in St. Paul's Parish House. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, Va. 23507, or to a charity of choice.
