JEFF BARBOUR JR.

Elder Jeff Barbour Jr., 69, of the 1400 block of Martin Ave., died Feb. 19, 1997, in Sentara Bayside Hospital.

Born in Charlottesville, he retired more than 15 years ago as supervisor of Southern State Fertilizer Plant with 35 years of service. He was a pastor and founder of St. Timothy Church of God in Christ, under the jurisdiction of Bishop Samuel Green. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late Alice Stepp Barbour and Jeff Barbour.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sadie Frances Barbour; six daughters, Gloria Maddrey, Dorothy Bynum, both of Philadelphia, Emma Owens of Chesapeake, Alice Faye Anderson of Portsmouth, Jakie Barbour-Brooks of Chesapeake, Edna Collins Bishop of Chesapeake; six sons, George Wilson of Virginia Beach, John Wilson of Chesapeake, Percell Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Jeff Barbour III, Willie Edward Barbour, all of Norfolk; six sisters, Lucille Brockington, Dorothy Branch, both of Monongahela, Pa., Shirley Smith of Norfolk, Nancy Darcus, Helen Morton, Sally Barbour, all of Charlottesville; two brothers, Curtis King Barbour of Fredericksburg, Franklin Barbour of Charlottesville; 46 grandchildren; stepmother, Sally Barbour; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First Pentecostal United Holy Church, 1434 Wilson Road, Norfolk, by Pastor A. Ray Rouson. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. A wake service will be held at the church from 6 to 8 tonight. Family and friends will assemble at 1434 Martin Ave., Chesapeake, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for the procession and at 10 a.m. Monday for burial. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
