WILLIAM M. WHEATLEY

William Maxwell Wheatley, 73, died Feb. 20, 1997, in his residence.

He was the son of the late William Samuel Wheatley and Mrs. Stella Hudson Wheatley of Lignum, Va. Retired after 27 years service in the U.S. Navy, he was employed an additional 17 years for the J.H. Miles Co. He was a member of Lafayette Dupont Lodge (NU)19, American Legion Post (NU)0141 and Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)60.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pauline; daughters, Ruthann Langkamp of Seattle, Linda Holland of Charlottesville, Paulette Burleson of Sligo, N.C., and Julie Olah of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Towler of Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Culpepper National Cemetery, Culpepper, by Chaplain Michael D. Payne. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday to receive friends.
