SAMUEL P. JORDAN SR.

Samuel Peele Jordan Sr., 79, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, in Windsor, Va.

A native of Benns Church, Va., he was the widower of Ann Wetherton Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, having served from 1941 to 1970. He was a veteran of World War II, and the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Benns United Methodist Church and was a 1936 graduate of Augusta Military Academy.

Survivors include two sons, Samuel P. Jordan Jr. of Midland, Mich., and Don W. Jordan of Stafford, Va.; three sisters, Lillian J. Britton of Chesapeake, Virginia J. Bailey of Windsor and Edna W. Cornett of Phoenix, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Jordan was predeceased by a son, Dan L. Jordan.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in Benns United Methodist Church by the Rev. Fred Breeden and the Rev. Dick Browder. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery. The family will be at 35 Church St., Windsor. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, is handling arrangements.
