Charles Obey Dowtin, 68, of the 300 block of W. 28th St. died Feb. 17, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The widower of Margaret Dowtin, he is survived by two daughters, Lorannie D. Watkins of Trenton, N.J., and Sharon Manning of Brunswick County, Va.; son, Larry L. Dowtin of Norfolk; three sisters, Ruby Drumgold of Norfolk, Clara Thrower of Norfolk and Shirley Hayes of Norfolk; two brothers, Paul Dowtin of Norfolk and John Dowtin of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Hale Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at noon.
