ROGER W. BECKER

Retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Roger William Becker, 75, died Feb. 22, 1997, in a local hospital.

Cmdr. Becker was born May 4, 1921, in South Orange, N.J. He retired in 1967 after 27 years in the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was very active in the community, his memberhips included the Retired Officers Association, Fleet Reserve Association, V.F.W Tidewater Post No. 4809, Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge No. 220, A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies in Norfolk. His lifetime memberships included Legion of Honor Khedive Temple A.A.O.N.A.S., having served as supply officer, Heroes of 76 International Sojourners Chapter No. 424 and No.6.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Trula Becker; two sons, Roger W. Becker Jr. and his wife, Vicky, of California, Anthony Becker and his wife, Patricia, of Massachusetts; two daughters, Patrica Becker Bench and her husband, William, of New Hampshire, Diane Allison and her husband, Gordon, of Georgia; a brother, George H. Becker Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base Chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Cmdr. Roger W. Becker to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children, c/o Khedive Temple, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, Va. 23320. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge.
