Michelle Sessoms continued her assault on the Norfolk State record book as the Spartanettes tuned up for the CIAA women's basketball tournament with a decisive 78-41 victory over host North Carolina Central.
The win, its fifth straight, was never really in doubt as Norfolk State (19-7, 14-3 CIAA) led by 20 points at the half, 40-20.
Eleven Spartanettes scored, led by Sessoms' 14 points, which moved her past Lisa Rice into 10th place in career scoring with 1,189. She also grabbed 14 rebounds to surpass Norma Knight for third place with 951 rebounds.
Raymona Jackson also scored 14 for Norfolk State.
The Eagles fell to 5-19, 2-16.
The Spartanettes will begin action in the CIAA tournament by playing St. Paul's-Shaw winner Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Winston-Salem.
