The Penn State Nittany Lions spoiled the grand opening of the Marty Miller Complex Saturday, sweeping the Spartans 8-7 and 4-1.
In the first game, the Nittany Lions, down 4-0 after three innings, erupted for six runs in the fourth to take control. Deon Eaddy went 4-for-4 with 4 RBI for the Spartans. Carl Albright and Don Beers homered for the Nittany Lions. Matt Dalsey gave up a run on two hits in the game's last 1 2/3 innings to get the win.
In the nightcap, Penn State's Chuck Romig outlasted Norfolk State's Harry Baylor in a pitching duel. Romig scattered five hits over seven innings while striking out eight. Baylor also went the distance, giving up four runs on seven hits.
Penn State improves to 2-2 on the year, while Norfolk State falls to 2-5.
The two teams finish the three-game series today at noon.
