Melvin T. Gordon of the 2500 block of Barre St. died May 27, 1997, in his residence.
Born in Norfolk, he was the widower of Carolyn B. Gordon and a member of Masonic Rising Sun Lodge (NU)2. He was a merchant seaman for the National Maritime Union.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle A. Gordon of Norfolk; a son, Donald A. Gordon of California; a stepson, Michael A. Brookins of Annandale, Va.; sisters, Iretha Gee of New York City, Mabel Gaines of Brooklyn, N.Y., Edna Taylor of Brooklyn and Caroldine Wallace of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Graves Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. James Edwards III. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
