AGNES H. VELLINES

Agnes Holland Vellines, 77, of the 1000 block of Pleasant Ridge Dr., died May 28, 1997, in her home.

Mrs. Vellines was born in Norfolk. She was the widow of Luther Thomas Vellines Sr. and was preceded in death by her son Luther ``Tom'' Vellines Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk.

Mrs. Vellines was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross.

Survivors include her daughter, Celeste Vellines Hardy and her husband Bill Hardy of Fairfax, Va.; her daughter-in-law, Cathy C. Vellines of Chesapeake; her sister, Mary Holland Weedon of Kensington, Md.; four grandchildren, William Kevin Hardy and Matthew Holland Hardy, both of Fairfax, Va., Justin Thomas Vellines and Courtney Chapura Vellines, both of Chesapeake; one great-grandson, Jonathan Hunter Collins of Fairfax.

A church service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday June 2, 1997, at First Baptist Church of Norfolk by Rev. Richard Baker. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 611 West Brambleton Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23507 or American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513, c/o 1998 Relay for life.
