KPC DAY SCHOOL RECEIVES ACCREDITATION FOR FOURTH TIME: KPC Day School, which serves about 200 children ranging in ages from 3 to 12, was granted reaccreditation for the fourth consecutive time by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The accreditation, which lasts for three years, is a voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they consistently meet national standards of excellence. Childcare centers, preschools, kindergartens and before/afterschool programs are eligible to seek accreditation. KPC Day School is in the Fairfield section of the Beach.

PENINSULA YARD HIRES COMPUTER FIRM TO RUN STORE: Newport News Shipbuilding has hired a subsidiary of Vienna-based MVSI Inc. to run a computer services center at the yard, MVSI said Tuesday. The center will provide computer equipment and services over the counter to support the shipyard. The center, run by MVSI's Socrates Computer Systems Inc., ought to cut down turnaround time on equipment service requests within the yard to a matter of minutes from about 21 days, the yard said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG GETS CRESTAR GIFT: The Crestar Foundation has awarded Colonial Williamsburg $250,000, the largest gift Colonial Williamsburg has ever received from a Virginia corporation. The money will provide a new Visitor Center orientation video as well as support other educational programs. The 10-minute video is the centerpiece of Colonial Williamsburg's new strategy to better inform visitors about the historical attraction. Crestar has supported Colonial Williamsburg for more than two decades, making major gifts for the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center addition and for interpretive programs at Carter's Grove. Crestar was also a founding corporate donor to the Colonial Williamsburg Fund. The fund provides annual unrestricted support.

MEDIA GENERAL COMPLETES TV STATION EXCHANGES: Media General, based in Richmond, said it has completed the previously announced trade of WTVR-TV in Richmond in exchange for WSAV-TV in Savannah, Ga., WJTV-TV in Jackson, Miss., and WHLT-TV in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Savannah, Jackson and Hattiesburg stations were owned by Ellis Communications Inc., Atlanta, Ga.
