SMALL EARTHQUAKE RATTLES THROUGH NORTHERN VIRGINIA

A minor earthquake rattled walls, floors and windows in northern Virginia's Prince William County on Monday, the National Earthquake Information Service said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage, said Kim Chinn, Prince William police spokeswoman.

The magnitude 2.5 temblor occurred at 1:45 p.m., The Golden, Colo., earthquake service reported the earthquake was centered northwest of Manassas, about 5 kilometers, or 3.1 miles, below the surface.

Police and the National Weather Service received numerous calls from residents whose walls, floors and windows shook. Several callers also reported hearing a loud noise akin to a sonic boom.
