EDWARD B. SPIVEY JR.

Edward Bembry Spivey Jr., 87, of the 400 block of Oriole Road, died Saturday Nov. 15, 1997, in a local hospital.

A native of Driver, Va., he retired as a captain of the Portsmouth Fire Department. Mr. Spivey was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church, Naval Lodge No. 100 A.F.&.A.M., Portsmouth Scottish Rite, Khedive Temple, Portsmouth Shrine Club, past patron of Marion Chapter No. 94, O.E.S., and the Portsmouth Retired Police and Fire Association.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis W. Spivey, a son, Hugh E. Spivey of Portsmouth; and four grandchildren, Edward A. Spivey, Gary A. Spivey, Cheryl A. Spivey and Karen S. Wright.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Raymond Edmonds. Burial will be in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery.
