GERTRUDE S. RUSSELL

Gertrude S. Russell, 87, of the 1200 block of Church St., died Nov. 13, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Princess Anne County, she was the widow of Deacon Clarence B. Russell and a retired dietician of the Virginia Beach Public School System after 20 years. She was a lifelong member of New Light Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, where she was a deaconess, member of the Pastor's Aid Society, Missionary Circle and Prayer Band. Mrs. Russell was a member, worker and supporter of many other various church organizations and activities.

Survivors include a daughter, Audrey R. Patrick of Virginia Beach; six sons and their wives, retired U.S. Army CW/4 Francis E. and Mary M. Russell, Dr. C.V. and Leonia Russell Sr., both of Chesapeake, Dr. William E. and Angela C. Russell of Portsmouth, Aaron B. and Carol B. Russell, Lloyd M. and Jestine E. Russell, both of Virginia Beach, Bishop C.V. and Ronda Russell Jr. of Portsmouth; 20 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; three foster children, Michael, Audrey and Patricia Kelly; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Harvey E. Russell.

A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday in New Light Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by Dr. Rudolph B. Lewis. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Suffolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at 11 a.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
