Gracie L. ``Grace'' Shearin, 70, of the 2200 block of Rose Ave. died Nov. 24, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
Born in Vance County, N.C., she was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Shearin was an active member of First Baptist Church, Elm Avenue, for more than 45 years and also served on its usher board. She was a member of Tidewater Ushers Association.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie P. Shearin; two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn S. and Anthony Rinaldi of Dinwiddie, Va., Alice G. and Harold Ladson II of Charleston, S.C.; a son and his wife, Wilbert A. and Pamela Shearin of Chesapeake; her mother, Alice Carroll of Warren County, N.C.; two sisters, Ethel Mae Terry of Baltimore, Md., Mary Alice Bullock of Metuchen, N.J.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, good neighbors and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Elm Ave., by the Rev. Gregory Thomas. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
