Osama Abouzeid, his wife Felicia and their three young daughters all
perished when their Sheffield Drive home caught fire early Monday morning.
Neighbor Steve Kinzer was the first to spot the blaze, but there was nothing
he or the fire department could do.

Authorities say the fire had been burning for several hours before it was

front of the home blocked by smoke and flames.
As investigators searched the debris, neighbors and friends consoled each
other.. and tried to reason how such a tragedy could have happened.

Fire marshals are concentrating their efforts on the living room area, where
the blaze apparently started, and where a computer may have short- circuited.
A number of items were sent to the state crime lab for testing, but it could
be several days before the exact cause is determined.

Rubatex workers in Bedford have agreed to a contract-- practically the same
one they rejected eight days ago.
This new vote may be enough to save nearly 300 jobs.

It was just last Sunday when this same contract was brought before the
Members shot it down by two votes, with the key issues being mandatory
overtime and the loss of seniority for some long- time workers.
In response to the proposal's rejection, Rubatex announced it would move
more than one- third of its workforce to Colt, Arkansas.
That put employees in a frenzy... and union officials called the second

Police are still searching for a man who attacked seven people outside a
school in England-
Authorities say the man was arguing with a woman before climbing the school
fence and slashing anyone in his way with a machete.

Officials say parents at the school prevented the man from getting inside
the building, then chased him away.

The victim's family says Hewitt forced his way into their home on Christmas
Eve armed with a rifle.
Higgins and Tomlin were in bed when Hewitt allegedly walked down the
hallway and shot them both.
Hewitt will be sentenced in October.
The trial for Pharmacist Joseph Chopski is underway today. He's accused of
Attorney Tony Anderson indicated Chopski and insurance company- Trigon
have have been at odds for years.
When Blue Cross initiated its "R-X Alternative program," Chopski posted a
sign at his "Wonder Drug" pharmacy that said: "we accept Blue Cross/Blue
Shield, but it sucks."
Chopski's lawyer says the program cut his profit by eleven percent.
When first confronted with evidence of fraudulent billing, Chopski
allegedly told Trigon's auditor that he could "get a good lawyer and ...make it
look like accidental billing."
A defense lawyer told the jury today Chopski "can't explain away every
mistake," but he points out that there are just 19-hundred dollars worth of
discrepancies out of more than 600-THOUSAND dollars in billing over two-and-a

This particular crew is clearing a lot behind the Science Museum of Virginia
for a 13-acre outdoor science park.
When it comes to unemployment, the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas have some of
the lowest jobless rates in the state.
The May figures released by the Virginia Employment Commission show the
Roanoke area has a jobless rate of roughly two-and-a-half percent.
The Lynchburg region comes in around three-and-a-half percent.
Both communities have seen their unemployment numbers drop compared to the

Industry figures show the movie earned about 86 and a-half MILLION dollars
