Since then 60 workers have lost their jobs, and the company has shipped

But if union members accept the deal, Goodyear promises to rehire the laid

Several factors have been influencing these workers since the first vote.
Not only layoffs, but also changes between departments.
Other local companies even got in on the act, begging the union to go back

While the city is still searching for a new police chief... the fire-
E-M-S department is looking within its ranks for new leadership.
Today, 21 lieutenants and first lieutenants received their badges from
Chief Jim Grigsby during a ceremony in city council chambers.

The department has 278 employees. About 80 took part in testing for the
Pete Tinsley is headed to prison, but not for murder.
Today, a Roanoke County jury found him guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
Tinsley admitted shooting Rick Knobel (kuh-NO-buhl) in February after a
night of drinking lead to an argument.
But he claimed he feared for his life because of Knobel's size and his
reputation for violence... and he said he fired his gun in self defense.
Today, a jury considered the evidence for most of the afternoon before
sentencing Tinsley to two years in prison for manslaughter, and 12 months for
possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Virginia is on track for a new record.
Governor George Allen declined to stop tonight's scheduled execution of
Arlington killer Michael Charles Satcher.
That means Satcher will probably be the state's eighth execution this year
-- tying last year's modern state record.
A ninth, record- breaking execution is scheduled for Thursday night.

After spending a year on probation, Liberty University's academic
accreditation has been fully restored.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools today voted to take Liberty
off the probation status it imposed last December.
That move came as Liberty was struggling to get a handle on more than forty
million dollars in debt.
Recent large contributions have helped the school reduce that debt to about
TEN million dollars.
The Reverend Jerry Falwell says Liberty is resolved to be debt- free by the
