Registration Being Studied

The Society is working on the problem of the Registration of new varieties originating in this country, possibly in cooperation with the Royal Horticultural Society which has been designated by an International Horticultural Congress as the International Registration Authority for Rhododendrons. Plans for registration have not been completed as yet and so the American Rhododendron Society Plant Registry heading in the July Bulletin should more properly have read "A List of New American Varieties." Only one of these names had been cleared with the A.R.S. Registrar.
Attention is also called to the fact that A.R.S. Awards to new varieties are made 'subject to naming' and that such plants, to actually receive the Awards, should, by all means, receive names that conform to the A.R.S. Code of Nomenclature.
