The A.R.S. Annual Meeting Portland, Oregon - May 9-12, 1974

Some additions have been made in the agenda for the Annual fleeting as given in the January Bulletin. Of special interest is the addition to the Saturday morning program of Frank Knight, retired Director of the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens at Wisley. He will give a slide-commentary on "Some Notable Rhododendron Collections in English Gardens."
As befits a celebration of the Thirtieth Anniversary of the A. R. S., a special tribute will be paid to charter members of the society at the dinner Friday evening. There will be a special table and recognition for charter members who will receive personal invitations to attend.
Headquarters for the Annual Meeting will be the Sheraton Motor Inn in Portland', Lloyd Center. Registration will he Thursday evening, May 9, and Friday morning, May 10. The early registration fee is $30. This covers the events of Friday and Saturday and includes lunch and dinner on Friday, lunch, champagne party and dinner on Saturday, the Willamette Valley tour Friday afternoon, and the shuttle bus tour of the Crystal Springs Island Garden and Portland Chapter Show, and tour of a Portland Nursery on Saturday.
Dr. August E. Kehr discusses the objectives of Sunday's Rhododendron Breeder's Roundtable and outlines the topics and chairmen of the program in the article following.
Elsewhere in this issue is Dr. Frank Mossman's article "The Western Azalea, Rhododendron occidentale". Dr. Mossman will speak on Friday morning on "More Meanderings in Azalea Meadows". His article will be of particular interest for those who plan to go on to his post-convention tour to Southern Oregon and the Northwestern corner of California to see these plants in the wild.
