Special Citation To Louis Grothaus

At the January meeting of the Portland Chapter, Louis Grothaus was honored with a special citation. He had already been granted a Bronze Medal and Citation in September 1969, but the feeling of gratitude by the chapter members for his many contributions seems ever pressing.
His presidency from 1964 to 1967 marked only a small part of his activity and influence on the growth, welfare and success of the Society. He served on the Garden Committee from the first of his appearance in the Chapter, and he has been active as the Chairman of that committee these past twelve years. It is on the occasion of his resignation from this assignment that this special citation is given, but we look forward to the continued development of the Rhododendron Garden in accordance with his plans; and we have no doubt but that we will still reap the benefits of his help in the further progress of the organization.
