In Memoriam: Pauline Acaiturri

Polly Acaiturri, a dedicated member of the Eugene Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, passed away on March 10, 1988. She was a graduate of Bend Community College, Portland State University, and received her Masters degree in Library Science. She was a school librarian in Vernonia, Eugene and Springfield Public Schools, retiring from Springfield in 1978.
Most recently she owned and operated a rhododendron and azalea nursery known as Polly's Bloomers. She was a charter member of the Northwest Chapter of the Azalea Society of America. She served as the American Rhododendron Society Bed & Breakfast Committee Chairman.
She was a member of the Oregon Chapter of the P.E.O Sisterhood, having served as Chapter President and State President. She was a charter member and Director of the Willamette Valley Traditional Dixieland Jazz Society. She also served as State President for the School Library Association.
Polly was a woman of many talents that she loved to share with her many friends. She had a ready smile and a kind word for everyone she encountered. She will truly be missed.
