In Memoriam: Frederick A. Serbin, MD
Frederick A. Serbin, M.D., died on Sept. 28, 1992. Fred Serbin was one of the original founders and a lifelong member of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society. He held office as the first vice-president and the first secretary/treasurer of this regional Chapter. Gustav Mehlquist, teacher, scholar, horticulturist, friend and lifelong hybridizer of rhododendrons, remarked that Dr. Serbin's greatest contribution to the Chapter was to elucidate the species variations of Rhododendron yakushimanum .
