CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
Karen Morebeck
You have been the inconspicuous, anonymous helper in every aspect of the chapter, willing to take on any job, as long as you didn't get a title or notice. You have kept us in touch with one another as editor of the newsletter; you have been the conscience and memory which didn't let us forget members we rarely see, or the work of those who have come before us. You have kept vireyas alive in the ground and in our minds through propagation and your creation of the vireya photo album. You have been the tender to small things that really matter. In recognition of this, your friendship and your loyalty, we bestow our highest chapter award, the Bronze Medal, on this the eighteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and ninety-eight.
MOUNT ARROWSMITH CHAPTER
Sam and Martha Cosco
The Mount Arrowsmith Rhododendron Society is pleased to present the Bronze Medal to Sam and Martha Cosco in recognition of the contribution they have made to our society and the ARS. Their enthusiastic and cheerful involvement in all of our activities has been a major factor in the success of our chapter. Sam's wit truly sparkled through the newsletters he produced. Everything he has participated in has received the same careful attention, whether serving at a plant sale, garden tour, the convention, work parties, or producing videos of our meetings. Martha has been an equally faithful participant in our chapter activities including chairing such committees as T-shirt and Scholarship. The awarding of this Bronze Medal is our way of saying thank you.
Bob and Carol Hickman
The Mount Arrowsmith Rhododendron Society is pleased to present the Bronze Medal to Bob and Carol Hickman in recognition of the contribution they have made to our society and the ARS. Their enthusiastic and cheerful involvement in all of our activities has been a major factor in the success of our chapter. Bob's tenure as executive member and president, chairing the Plant Sale & Truss Show for many years, organizing and building our float, and serving as vice-chair of our "Blast Off To MARS" conference are worthy of special mention. Carol co-chaired the T-shirt committee but she participates in everything and she and Bob together have shared their home for so many meetings and social functions. The awarding of this Bronze Medal is our way of saying thank you.
OLYMPIC PENINSULA CHAPTER
Amy Brandon
It is a distinct pleasure to recognize someone who has been a member of the Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society for over 30 years, longer than anyone else in our chapter. Our annual show is successful and distinctive in part because we include flower arranging and array our trusses by color. Amy Brandon founded and served for many years as chairman of the flower arranging portion of our show and has had entries every year. She also instigated displaying the show trusses by color and for many years now has stayed late on Friday night working her magic for judging on Saturday morning. For her contributions over these many years, her wonderful ideas, her unfailing smile, willingness and charm, it is with greatest pleasure that we award the Bronze Medal to Amy Brandon. June, 1998.
SHELTON CHAPTER
Floyd (Danny) and LaWanda Waters
The Shelton Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society proudly presents the Bronze Medal Award to Floyd (Danny) and LaWanda Waters in recognition and appreciation of their many contributions to our chapter. Floyd has given us inspirational leadership as chapter president. His knowledge of hybridizing, propagation and culture of rhododendrons have benefited all members of the chapter. His creative display gardens added greatly to the beauty of our shows. Both Danny and LaWanda have repeatedly contributed to the work of our chapter and added to our pleasure as gracious hosts to their garden on the shore of Spencer Lake. May 18, 1998.

Jane Sleeper
The Siuslaw Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society is pleased to present to Jane Sleeper the Bronze Medal Award for her many years of service as an outstanding treasurer. Her dedication to the chapter and to her interest in the genus

is appreciated by all. Jane and her husband, Robert, developed a beautiful garden which they shared with members. Together they raised many of the plants used for the monthly door prizes given by the chapter. Over the years they have helped with the chapter's rhododendron shows. Our thanks to both of these nice people.
