The Rhododendron Society of Canada, ARS District 12

Joan Schiff
This award is presented to Joan Schiff in recognition of her outstanding service to The Rhododendron Society of Canada. Not only has she been president of the Toronto Chapter, but has served as a director of District 12 on the American Rhododendron Society's Board. Her enthusiasm and efficiency for the many endeavours of the Society has been much appreciated.

Lillie Haworth
The Rhododendron Society of Canada is pleased to award the Leslie Hancock Memorial award to Lillie Haworth for her contributions to the Society. An experienced plantsman, her knowledge has been invaluable in her roles as president of both the Niagara Chapter and The Rhododendron Society of Canada. Lillie has been much involved in the organization of the 1998 ARS Annual Convention. The Society expresses its appreciation with the presentation of this award.

Nicholas Yarmoshuk
As a member of The Rhododendron Society of Canada for many years, Nicholas Yarmoshuk has contributed in many ways to the affairs of the Society. He has served as the president of The Rhododendron Society of Canada, the Niagara Chapter, and as the chair of the 1998 ARS Annual Convention "On The Edge." The time, effort and strong leadership displayed by Nick, and ably assisted by many others, has enabled The Rhododendron Society of Canada to host a successful convention. The Society is pleased to present this award with our gratitude.

Richard Birkett
This award is given to Richard Birkett in recognition of his outstanding service to The Rhododendron Society of Canada, District 12 of the American Rhododendron Society. Not only has he been an enthusiastic supporter of the Society by acting in many functions as a director and officer over the years, but more importantly, he has introduced the rhododendron species in their many forms and varieties through personal contact, as a hybridiser, as a contributor to the Seed Exchange, through personal appearances on television and radio, and by generously opening his display garden to the public at large as well as generously offering his hospitality to the members and plants people from around the world. His counsel, enthusiasm and knowledge is much appreciated.
