The illustration on the cover of the Quarterly Bulletin of the Society illustrates one of the particularly fine forms of R. augustinii as described in the article by Ruth Hansen, "A Portland Rhododendron Garden." In the early Spring of 1951 I had the pleasure of visiting this garden and the masses of bloom on the Triflorum group along with the flowering cherries was a delight. It was related to me at that time that the cherries were particularly fine that year, and that they were indeed, but the sight of masses of bloom in drifts on these rhododendrons was truly inspiring.
