Rules & Regulations for A.R.S. Shows

  1. Exhibits will be accepted from anyone, members and non-members alike.
  2. Exhibitors of cut trusses shall have their bloom in not later than 9:00 A.M. on opening day. Judging to start at 10:00 A.M. Doors open to public at 12:00 Noon.
  3. Commercial exhibits shall be set up the day preceding the show or not later than 9:00 A.M. on opening day.
  4. No bloom shall be allowed under an exhibitor's name if the exhibitor has not owned the plant, from which the bloom was taken, for at least six (6) months.
  5. The judges, comprising three, for cut-trusses and commercial exhibits alike shall be at liberty to withhold any award or ribbon if the entry is deficient in merit or may at their decision award a lower prize. A second prize will be awarded if there are 3 or more entries in a group and a third prize if more than five. The judges decision will be final. A new class or group will be added only when 3 or more entries are received that cannot be entered into any of the existing classes. When only one or two entries are received they shall be placed on the exhibition table. Awards can be made by the judges.
  6. The flower arrangement competition will be limited to garden clubs only and shall consist of a single container of a limited size. The arrangement shall be no taller than 15" and no wider than 18" and must be at least 50% Azaleas and/or Rhododendrons. First, second or third place awards will be made by a special set of judges selected for this purpose.
  7. No rating or award shall be made by the Award Committee unless the exhibitor has so requested in writing before the show opens. No award shall he made on any plant in a commercial exhibit until the judging has been completed.
  8. A Special Award will be made for the finest truss and also the best plant in the Show.
  9. Commercial exhibits will be judged 60% on exhibition quality of plants, 40% on arrangements.
  10. It is requested that all exhibitors refrain from removing any part of their exhibits until after the Show. Any plant sold out of an exhibit must remain until the show closes.
  11. The Society will take every care for the protection of all plants but cannot be responsible for any loss or damage.
  12. Absolutely no blooms are to be removed by anyone except the exhibitor. All blooms left at the close of the show will be destroyed by the Society.
  13. Any objection raised by exhibitors must be in writing to the Secretary of the Society not later than 2:00 P.M. of the first day of the Show, for submission to the committee.
  14. The term "Spray" means a single stem or branch. The term "truss" means a single rachis, and therefore a cut group of select blooms tied together as a truss will be disqualified.
  15. Only one truss of a variety may be entered by an exhibitor in any one class but the same variety may be entered in another class if it fits the category.
  16. Any 3 members of the governing board of the Society will have the power to disqualify exhibits which infringe on any of the above regulations. Their decision shall be final.
