Flames claim the historic Hotel Botetourt in Buchanan, Virginia. The 146-year-old building had been a home for mentally handicapped adults for the past 15 years. One of the residents was charged with setting the fire. Crews from Eagle Rock, Glasgow, Roanoke County and Troutville helped the Buchanan fire department battle the fire, and water from the nearby James River was used to drown the flames. August 23, 1997.
