Great Lakes Chapter A.R.S. Show and Meeting Notice
Mrs. S. J. Stone, Sec.-Treas.
The Great Lakes Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society is planning to hold their Annual Rhododendron Show and meeting in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Garden Mart, May 22 and 23, 1963 at the Pittsburgh Garden Center, Shady Ave., East End, Pittsburgh, Pa. A tour of the world renowned Rachel Miller Hunt Botanical Library will be conducted by the director, Dr. George H. M. Lawrence. As many of you know, the Great Lakes region has been the scene of the development of some of the world's hardiest, lovely new varieties of both azaleas and rhododendrons. This show will provide an opportunity to view many of these challenging new blooms in spite of the drastic winter weather we have experienced this year. So we take this opportunity to invite our neighboring chapters to come and see our show, participate in the meeting and enjoy the colorful garden mart, which annually draws more than 20,000 people a day.
