In 1997 Dr. Hidetoshi Miyakawa (Executive Director of the Japanese Society of Technology Education and Associate Professor in the Department of Technology Education at Aichi University of Education, Japan) consulted his colleague, Dr. Mark Sanders, Virginia Tech Professor of Technology Education, about initiating online access to the Journal of the Japanese Society for Technology Education, as Sanders had done with the Journal of Technology Education in 1992. Dr. Miyakawa, edited the JJSTE following a research leave that included working on the Technology for All Americans Project (originally hosted by DLA). However, the 1998 translations of the article abstracts for volumes 39 and 40 of the JJSTE were the only material DLA received.
