VARIED PERSPECTIVES ON CURRENT ISSUES, PROBLEMS & CONCERNS
KEYNOTE PANEL
John R. Welser, DVM, PhD, Chair
The purpose of this panel is to outline the issues and frame the deliberations of the 13th Symposium on Veterinary Medical Education. The members of the panel will provide their perspectives on the current issues, problems and concerns for veterinary medical graduate education in the 21st Century. Panel members, with their varied background and experiences, have been asked to raise controversial topics and viewpoints to stimulate discussion within the breakout groups, with the anticipation that we will be able to achieve the goal of defining, describing and characterizing the key elements of model programs for residents, degree-oriented and certificate programs targeted for veterinary medicine.
It is hoped that thought-provoking ideas and controversial topics will be discussed, leading to novel solutions and providing templates for the future of veterinary medical education.
