Richmond chapter recognizes Allen

The Richmond chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association presented its 1990 Monteith Award to John J. Allen Jr., Class of 1990, in recognition of his scholastic, military, athletic, and organizational activities. Allen was the outstanding senior in the university's corps of cadets.

The Monteith Award was established in 1950 in memory of 1st Lt. Jimmie Watters Monteith Jr., Class of 1941, who received the Congressional Medal of Honor, posthumously, for sacrificing his life on Normandy beach on D-Day while leading his platoon out of a Nazi trap.

Newman Community plans alumni newsletter
