JAMES A. CALBOURNE JR.

James Amos Calbourne Jr., of 13 Welcome Court, went home to be with the Lord Feb. 20, 1997. He died in a local hospital.

Mr. Calbourne was a native of the Virgin Islands. He was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as a chief petty officer. He later served and retired as a deputy sheriff for the City of Portsmouth.

Survivors include his wife, Lodema P. Calbourne; a daughter, Karen D. Calbourne; a son, Alphanso A. Calbourne; two brothers, David Calbourne, Hosea Calbourne; two granddaughters, Alkeshia and Kianna Calbourne; loving mother and father-in-law, Hazel J. and Horace W. Benford; three brothers-in-law, Ulyesses and Curtis Pulley, Louis McKiever and many special nieces, nephews and friends.

A private funeral of family and friends will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Graves Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Portsmouth. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
