John E. Pierce Sr., 76, went to be with his Lord Feb. 25, 1997, in Nansemond Point Convalescent Center, Suffolk.
A native of Sunbury, N.C., he was a retired instrument mechanic for Shop 51 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 34 years service, a member of Geneva Park Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn P. Pierce; daughter, Patsy Luck of Chesapeake; son, John E. Pierce Jr. of Gatesville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Peter Lopresti. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and at other times in the residence at 217 Tareyton Lane. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
