JOHN W. CLARK

John Wilson Clark, 79, of the 800 block of Daphia Circle, departed this life Feb. 25, 1997.

Mr. Clark was a native of Warren County, N.C., and a farmer. He was also retired from Hampton Hardwood Corp. He resided in Newport News the last 26 years. He was a member of Macon Methodist Church, Macon, N.C.

He is survived by his wife, Luella Virginia Barnes Clark; a son, John Allen Clark of Suffolk; six daughters, Shirley Paynter of Hampton, Joyce Taylor of Hayes, Frances Moore of Newport News, Betty Copeland of Suffolk, Carolyn Fisher of York County and Barbara Melton of Gray, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Clark of Memphis, Tenn., Freeman Clark of Goldsboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, David Lee Clark. He leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, also wonderful sons-in-law.

Dad taught us to be honest and fair. Your good character and your love will carry us on. God has called you home but you will not be forgotten by us or other relatives and many friends.

A private memorial service will be held Friday in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Littleton, N.C. Blaylock Funeral Home, Littleton, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
