VERNON D. DIVERS

Vernon D. Divers, 90, of the 700 block of Sparrow Road, died Feb. 25, 1997, in Norfolk.

Born in the Berkley section of Norfolk, he was the retired owner of Divers Grocery in Berkley for many years and also retired from Boyd Bluford Co. He was a member of Christian Church Uniting, Virginia Beach, and was an honorary life member and past master of Doric Masonic Lodge (NU)44, Khedive Temple and Ionic Chapter (NU)46, Royal Arch Masons. He was the widower of Marie Rountrey Divers.

Survivors include two daughters, June M. Divers Willcox and her husband, Blair Willcox of Virginia Beach, Sue Divers Redditt of Chesapeake; a son, Vernon Richard Divers and his wife, Diane J. Divers of Chesapeake; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Clara B. Winborne Divers and Rufus Patrick Divers.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will be at Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Masonic rites will be accorded at the grave. Memorial donations may be made to Christian Church Uniting, 6049 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23464. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
