James Herbert ``Zerk'' Zerkle, 68, of the 1500 block of Lake Speight Drive, died Feb. 27, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Born in Limdale, W.Va., he was a retired wrecker driver for Portsmouth Auto Clinic. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late William Moss Zerkle Sr. and Grace Zerkle.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Bond Little Zerkle; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Jesse Thomas Little Jr. and Anne Marie Little of Suffolk, Charles Hubert Little and Nancy Little of Las Vegas; sisters, Mary Z. Herbert and Virginia Z. Beachboard; brothers, A.P. Zerkle, Denver Zerkle, W.M. Zerkle, Harold Zerkle, John R. Zerkle and A.F. Zerkle; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Thornton M. Frye. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and at other times in the residence. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
