Ponciano B. Oida, 51, of the 5800 block of Bradley Ave., died Feb. 28, 1997, in his residence.
A native of San Miguel, Nabua, Camarines, Sur, Philippines, he was a retired chief petty officer of the U.S. Navy with 22 years service and also retired from civil service at the Naval Supply Center as a warehouseman. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was past vice president of the Bicol Association.
Survivors include his wife, Cecilia T. Oida; two daughters, Maricel Oida and Maritess Oida, both of Norfolk; a sister, Benita Uvero of Philippines; a granddaughter, Kayla Oida of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Fe Timbol of Norfolk; and a brother-in-law, Josefino Timbol of Philippines.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Catholic Church by Fr. Leo Manalo. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held at 6 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, where the family will remain to receive friends until 8 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
