WALTER D. GINGER JR.

Retired Army Lt. Col. Walter Daniel Ginger Jr., 65, died Feb. 28, 1997, at his residence.

Born in Evansville, Ind., he retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1977 after 23 years of service. He also retired as an ROTC instructor from Louisville, Ky., public schools. He was a graduate of Male High School of Louisville, and he attended what is now Western Kentucky University; Georgia State University; and U.S. Army Command and Staff College of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose Ginger; two daughters, Carolyn Ginger Dunn of Greenville, S.C., Susan Ginger Rosenblatt of La Jolla, Calif.; a son, W. Daniel Ginger III of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Herbert Ginger of Flagstaff, Ariz., and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held in private in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials sent to American Heart Association, Davenport Circle, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
