VERNA G. BRASSFIELD

Verna G. Brassfield, 73, died Feb. 28, 1997, in her home.

A homemaker, she was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Chesapeake, and a volunteer for the Virginia Opera for many years. She was also a``friend'' of the Chesapeake Library.

Survivors include a daughter, Lt. Cmdr. Susan R. Davis and son-in-law, Jesse E. Davis, both of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Horobuchak of Clarks Summit, Pa.; a brother, Michael Gnall of Tayler, Pa.; two grandsons, J. Michael Taylor and Russell Cary Taylor, both of El Cajon; brother-in-law, Basil Brassfield and wife, Barbara of Naperville, Ill.; sister-in-law, Cinda Derossi and husband, Hank, of Franklin, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Paul Moore and Dr. Kenneth A. Barnes. Private burial be at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the local Salvation Army. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
