The Currituck County Public Schools' Student of the Month Program recently was recognized by Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. and the North Carolina Public School Partners.
The program highlights student achievements and is sponsored by the local business community.
The program was chosen for its community effort to increase student performance and received high praise in a letter from the governor.
Schools Superintendent Ronnie Capps and Community Schools Director Diane Sawyer recently gave a presentation on the program at a statewide conference in Pinehurst.
The conference spotlighted ``best practices'' from throughout the state and was sponsored by the non-profit North Carolina Partners, which is made up of educational, civic and business organizations.
